There are few hotels in this world that can boast such a roster of epic resorts in far flung destinations as Aman. Since first laying eyes of Amangiri (only online I hasten to add) I knew it was everything I loved in terms of architecture, design and overall good taste. Although I try and keep it cool most of the time, I literally screamed when I received an email that Aman were turning 30 this year, and were looking for influencers who were also turning 30 to celebrate their birthdays in the hotel. This was a total birthday-wish-I’d-never-made come true! So I grabbed 3 of my besties and we proceeded to fly to Morocco to stay in one of the on site villa suites of Amanjena.
The entire site is so breathtaking, a literal breath of fresh air after driving through the city of Marrkech, you feel like you’ve reached the ultimate resting place. Through reception you are greeted with a fresh mint tea and look out through archways onto a giant pond surrounded by Moroccan walls and fauna. Each path leads you to hidden away resting places, pools and terraces each with a view more instagrammable than the last. Never have I taken so many shots of a corner with nothing but a pot plant in.
Aman had kindly given us a two bedroom suite with our own pool and courtyard, with a bedroom upstairs looking down on the lounge. I have such a thing for the way they build walls in hot and humid countries, almost sculpted into shapes, everything comes alive and looks so exciting. The windows that lead into walls that lead into pillars are unlike anything I had seen before. The architecture is minimalist which only makes the moroccan features more prominent and jaw dropping. Terracotta pinks, lavender furnishings and green marbles have never looked so good together. We spent most of our time on our terrace looking out over the pool until it came time to eat of course. The Moroccan restaurant on the property was insanely delicious, we ate to a traditional band playing from inside, and the echoes against all the walls were incredible! The breakfast on the pool terrace is a must every single day because the spread is divine and who doesn’t enjoy a croissant or moroccan eggs with a poolside view? Outside of Amanjena we enjoyed eating at Nomad and Naranj. An outing you cannot miss is the YSL museum and Jardin Majorelle.
