Spot the Difference

Singer Kelis at the Annual Data Awards / Sea Monkeys ad
I cannot actually believe how spot on this is!
First of all, when I saw the outfit on Grazia a couple of days ago, I couldn’t believe my eyes! How could any body have got Givenchy and McQueen so wrong? But now I understand! She was obviously trying to replicate the sea monkey adverts of the 90′s!
Your not Gaga Kelis! And even Gaga wouldn’t attempt this.
And just to clear it up, yes that IS a pink latex cut out jumpsuit she’s wearing, complete with fish scales…

Alice in Wonderland by Nicholas Kirkwood

Nicholas Kirkwood for Printemps Alice in Wonderland Exhibition

This was my favourite design of all, you can find others here
Which one is your favourite?

Backstage at Ann D

Ann Demeulemeester’s A/W 2010 collection definitely had a decadent feel about it, it took place at the usual Couvent des Cordelier, where the mood was dark and rainy. The colour palette was black, white, light grey and skin tones with the usual Ann D staple pieces such as skinny leather cargo pants, long wool suit jackets and sharp army boots.

Here is a snippet of the interview from Dazed

Ann: “I started with a fantasy in my head – I was trying to make a character of my own. It’s a modern day Duke for 2010. His extravagant personality and artistic nobility led to the collection.
My duke has edge and extravagance, he’s strange and not like everybody else.”

Another stunning collection, seeing the collection more up close and personal is such a delight.
I really love all the fur thats surfaced in the menswear this season. Bring in fur for men!

Givenchy Haute Couture

Some seriously seriously ferosh looks gracing the Givenchy Haute Couture catwalk

The very first editorial Hedi Slimane did for Vogue Hommes Japan in July 2008

Favourite Menswear so far

Juun J

Rick Owens

Burberry Prorsum

Jean Paul Gaultier

John Galliano

Gianfranco Ferre

Swooshy coats gallore at Dior
The live screening of the Dior show, although I wish they had done close ups, a lot of the details were lost.

Absolutely loving the menswear collections so far! Menswear is becoming so exciting! Last season Katie Eary was my favourite, this year I am definately excited about Aitor Throup.
Have been watching Juun J closely also, the sheer garments last season and now beautiful leathers with lots of zips, pockets and fuss. I love fussy garments!
Lots of variations of the trench this season, Burberry hit the nail on the head as always. The blue assymetric one is a favourite.
Galliano, of course, blew me away! Which ones do you like best so far?

Dior Homme Spring/Summer 2010 in Surface magazine

Surface Magazine
Designer: Kris Van Assche for Dior Homme
Photographer: Sybille Walter

I found this stunning editorial over The Fashionisto Via Maison Chaplin
Kris Van Assche’s spring collection for Dior Homme featured in Surface Magazine with Kris acting as Art Director for the shoot. Photographed in my favourite city, Antwerp, by Sybille Walter.
Mathias Bilien, Dominik Bauer and Crista Cober showcase the range’s androgynous nature whilst Mauricio Nardi’s sleek styling brings a whole new edge to the editorial.
I’m obsessed with androgyny at the moment, it’s incredibly beautiful and powerful. Being dressed in Dior helps too of course.

The Darjeeling Limited

One of my favourite ever films; ‘The Darjeeling Limited’.
It such a beautiful film to watch. My favourite scene is when they are running after the train throwing the bags behind them. I couldn’t find a film still of that but I found plenty other beautiful shots.
After watching it again I also found out that costumes were by Marc Jacobs and the suitcases were Louis Vuitton!

Wes Anderson and Marc Jacobs

If you haven’t seen the film I strongly urge you to, it transports you to another land and is truly unlike anything else you’ll ever see.

Givenchy Pre Fall

Seriously, seriously, seriously in love with Givenchy’s Pre-Fall collection.
The layered coats in the second picture are my favourite. So incredible, I wish I had thought them up myself!
