SHEER PANELLED

After seeing this Theyskins Theory piece at the Farfetch event a while ago, I knew it was only a matter of time until it was a new favourite addition to my wardrobe. I tend to live in shirts and was feeling other areas -such as slinky sheer panelled knit tops, were lacking. Also, maroon faux leather trousers; I’ve worn these a few times and now is the perfect weather to start living in them!

LUNCH ON ALBEMARLE

Wearing: Boyfriends shirt, Acne trousers, Margiela Tabi boots, Dr Martens tote, Dominic Jones rings and Miu Miu sunglasses.

The day after my show I felt totally elated, I couldn’t believe it was over and the incredible response SS13 was getting! It helped that the show was followed by dinner with friends and a couple of after parties courtesy of Vivienne Westwood and New York, New York; what an amazing night! After a meeting with Bengt the next day, I headed over to Albemarle St to meet Michael for a lobster lunch at Hix; together we pieced together the previous nights story (see drunk faces here) and any extras I’d missed from bundling myself in a cab relatively early. It was definitely a good idea to give fashion week a miss this season, trying to do it all earlier this year totally destroyed me, and I must have laid motionless on the sofa for at least a month to follow! Now I’m already back to work and preparing to go to Paris for more buyers meetings and then into production next month! So exciting and all relatively new.

I’m loving wearing my boyfriends oversized shirts at the moment, he’s convinced I’m trying to steal his look as he lives in white shirts and black trousers, he doesn’t see any minimal-chic connotations to this.

THE JURASSIC COAST

Wearing: American Apparel tee, Acne trousers, Alexander Wang brogues, MFP tubular bracelet.

This weekend I got to explore the southern coast of the UK, better known as the Jurassic Coast; where some of the cliffs are around 200 million years old. It was perfect to kick back with family and forget about the last few hectic months with a few glasses of wine and plenty of local seafood! With all the rain we’ve been having I was pleased to rediscover these thick wool man-trousers from the depths of my wardrobe, they’re the perfect Autumn slouchy trouser.

CHARLIE MAY SS13

All pictures by Alex Leese.

So this is the full rundown of the show, from make up to sweep up! Having a catwalk show this season made such a difference, I loved using such a light, neutral colour palette and seeing the liquid satin and velvet move through the wine cellar/WW2 bunker was incredible. A huge thank you to my amazing team, who made the whole day so much fun! Already looking forward to AW13 but first I need to concentrate on production! (PS – Can you spot me in that final pic?)

SHOW DAY OUTFIT

Wearing: Margiela shirt dress, Chloe braided sandals.

I’d been saving this perfectly simple shirt dress for the day of my show, knowing that it had the right balance of comfort and paired down chicness. Although, being Margiela is did have some slight quirks; like the arm holes coming down super low, disabling me from lifting my arms too high! What an amazing day though, I still can’t quite believe it happened. Looking forward to seeing more photos from the show itself, wondering at this point why I didn’t set up a video!

BEHIND THE SCENES FOR SS13

Just a couple of photos of the scene before the SS13 show yesterday. A less frantic looking scene I might add… What an amazing team I had on board; clothes were steamed, eyes were shadowed, hair was tousled and it was all over in minutes! Thank you to everyone who came, I’ve had the most incredible feedback and I’m really looking forward to sharing the catwalk pictures when I get them through in the next couple of days!

#CharlieMaySS13

So after looking into a live stream for my SS13 show tomorrow and realising how $$$$ it is, I thought it would be awesome to have a more interactive little instagram gallery following the hashtag CharlieMaySS13! It will automatically update snapshots throughout the day, and not just from me, but from everyone that attends the show! Keep checking back for more!

INDUSTRIAL

Super in love with this editorial by Revs Magazine, featuring the beautiful Jing Ma wearing my AW12 wide leg trousers and suede/silk evening dress. Some seriously killer accessories; I need to go and make a large MFP order…

GIVENCHY LAPEL CRAVINGS

How much do I want a Givenchy shark lapel blazer? I fell in love with the black python version on the runway, waiting until I have a spare £3k lying around for that one! I don’t remember seeing this tweed version from the show, but the mesh panels are pretty awesome! To put this all into context, we were at the Digital Dress Up event thrown by Farfetch just before fashion week kicked off. We raided the rails, to pick our favourite pieces for AW12, so happy I finally got to try on those Haider trousers I’ve been eyeing for so long! Beneath the jacket I’m wearing the most beautiful sheer panel Theyskins Theory knit that is now officially on my to-buy list. How perfect is the leather biker/Katranzou combo that Lexxi‘s wearing too?

A huge congratulations to Lucie Kerley for winning the Dr Martens comp!  And thank you everyone for all your amazing entries, you went above and beyond the call of duty. Glad to see everybody loves docs as much as I do. I can’t wait to look around the factory in a few weeks!

DIP DYE

Just a quick post to say, I hope you guys are loving the new blog layout! After recently celebrating my blogs 4th birthday it was definitely time for something more clean and minimal, and dare I say it a little more grown up? So many exciting things are taking place for SS13, it will be my first actual runway show – the location is incredible and there are so many exciting ideas for the space! Today I met with Used magazines fashion editor, Rebecca Sammon who will be styling the show on Sunday. What an amazing super-gorgeous lady! I’m going to be updating as much as physically possible, so make sure you check back regularly and follow me on twitter and instagram as well!
