Bittersweets NY

This insanely beautiful collection of jewellery is by Bittersweets.
“The idea behind Bittersweets NY is making something exquisite out of the everyday objects and designs that are taken for granted. Why reinvent the wheel? The Maggot and Earthworm series stay within the ideology of borrowing a design from another tried and true source…nature.”
I have fallen in love with every single one of these pieces, the delicate rings are just perfection! I have a friend who’s killing herself over those vamp rings too.
I can see Bittersweets is just going to be huge, I love her work.
I think I now know what I want for christmas.

Tilda Swinton in another editorial

My favourite editorial this year, maybe even ever.
Another Magazine
Photographer: Craig McDean
Stylist: Panos Yiapanis
16th edition, Spring/Summer 2009
This special issue features British designers: Mark Fast, Louise Goldin, Mary Katrantzou, Craig Lawrence, Peter Pilotto.
And of course Tilda Swinton looking so incredible!
I think this ed is even more special to me as I found out that this how Panos and Louise met, and they are such a perfect design/style duo.
The way the outfits have been styled is so beautiful, I love clothes being styled upside down, wrong way round. Layering up pieces to make the silhouettes look longer and more dramatic.

Louise Goldin for Topshop

I never thought this would happen but the Louise Goldin shoes WILL BE GOING ON SALE IN TOPSHOP!
They come in black, white and silver. How did they do it?
The original shoes were so heavy, so it will be interesting to see if they have managed to make the studs light weight but still tough. These pictures via mykromag certainly do them justice.
The shoes will be released in only Oxford Circus and Manchester Arndale flagship stores on Friday 20th October, and online from Saturday the 21st.

Alice in Wonderland

Natalia Vodianova as Alice in Wonderland
U.S Vogue 2003
Photographed by Annie Leibovitz

Featuring Karl Lagerfeld, Viktor & Rolf, Christian Lacroix, Stephen Jones, Nicholas Ghesquiere, Donatella Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, Tom Ford, John Galliano, and Marc Jacobs.

Sacha Goldenheel Award 2010

How insanely incredible are these shoes!? They are the works of MA students at the Fashion Institute Arnhem (FIA) in the Netherlands. They have a web blog you can check out, see some of the inspiration behind the designs.
The winning shoe of the Golden Heel awards will go on sale from January 2010!

Check the shoes live at the Amsterdam Tassen museum from November 18th until January

I can’t decide which one I want to win, they are all so breathtaking.
The first three are my favourite but maybe number 3 deserves to win because of that heel.

Out of this world

At London Fashion Week I discovered the works of Atalanta Weller.
These insane sculptural pieces are the work of an english eccentric.
The 28 year old is originally from Gloucestershire. After studying a foundation course in Cheltenham, she did her BA in footwear at Cordwainers College.

“Shoes are like small sculptural buildings in their own right. I just love the challenge, the technical restrains of footwear. And I enjoy the materials – conventional leather or unconventional wood, plastic and polystyrene!”

Atalanta has been working with Henry Holland since his first runway collection and Gareth Pugh
for one show, shrink wrapping the shoes before they went out onto the catwalk.

She also has some much more wearable pieces that were also on show at lfw. Got to get my hands on those wedges!

I also stumbled across the work of Gabriella Marina Gonzalez. She designs garments as well as making out of this world accessories. I couldn’t find a website for her but she does have a blog.

Love her illustrations!
You can buy Gabriella’s work at Digitaria, London.

Gagaaaa ooh Gaga…

Lady Gaga at the 13th annual ACE Awards on

I had completely forgotten about the team up of Lady G and Tokyo porno/art photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. She thanked him at the ACE “for photographing my soul”. Now after seeing the pictures I am a little disturbed.

Vogue Hommes Japan
Photographer: Nobuyoshi Araki
Fashion Director: Nicola Formichetti
I don’t know what I expected from this, I guess not lady gaga tied up and gagged? I don’t particularly like this editorial. The fact that there is paint smeared all over the place just seems like they are trying to detract from the fact that Lady Gaga is starkers in most of the photos. I do however love her outfit at the ACE awards…
What do you guys think anyway? Do you see her soul here?
