Very excited to invite you all to my first ever sample sale and private orders evening next Wednesday. There will be samples dating back to my first collections, and you’ll be able to order the brand new S/S14 collection, not to mention all the other designers that will be there too. I look forward to seeing you there, come and say Hi!
I can finally say I’ve recovered from fashion month and Paris last week! This was our showroom in the heart of Marais, the space was also home to beautiful accessories designers Kite Eden and Jessie Harris. I had so much fun sharing the space and our time together, with our work hard, play hard logistics that I think everyone adopts when they’re in Paris for fashion week! Next season I’ll definitely be staying a little longer.
Nothing compares to seeing a collection up close and I felt many of the texture details were lost in the catwalk imagery, so there’s some close ups for you to see here too. The mesh fabrics were made in the studio, layering up sheer silks with the mesh trapped in between, bonding the mesh with cotton to create a versatile three dimensional fabrication; also using croc print raffia against sports jerseys and scubas and butter soft leathers was another favourite.
Huge thanks to those who came to visit, until next season!
Major girl crush, Erin O’Connor seen here wearing my AW13 sheer panel dress for the latest issue of You magazine. So stunned, every designer wants to have their pieces worn by top supermodels and this is my very first encounter of what a girl like Erin can transform your pieces into. In love really.
I love looking back at these photos and reliving the moment of being backstage at St Martins Lane last Sunday. Most of the event goes by in a blur and in no time at all, so it’s nice to have these as evidence! Last minute finishing touches to be done, hair and make up prepped as well as running through the outfits one more time and making any last minute changes, all in just two hours. You can see more close ups of the collection on 1883 mag too, and of course my fashion week Pinterest collaboration board. What an amazing show, and made so much more enjoyable by my amazing team and St Martins Lane, the perfect show location for SS14!

Eh voila! The collection I’ve been working so hard on the last few months and the reason this blog has become a bit of a desert wasteland the last week and a half! So super excited about the show yesterday, everything went perfectly and I loved every second of it. More backstage imagery to come and if you want to see more, I’m updating my London Fashion Week Pinterest collaboration board with any show pictures I find, and it went live on VOGUE.COM if you want that super close zoom too.
Thank you to my amazing team credited below, and to everyone who made the show possible!
One of my favourite classic minimalistic pieces to make is the wrap skirt, as seen in my S/S12 and S/S13 collections, it’s ease of use and make, makes it a summer staple for me. I teamed up with Shini to show her exactly how you can easily make one yourself at home, with this super simple DIY using leftover mint velvet from my SS13. To see even more of the steps, visit her blog for the full article.
You will need: Fabric, half a metre is enough, scissors, sewing machine, pins, an iron and ironing board.
- To make the ties, cut two long strips about 50cm long and cut down into four. Fold in on itself, pin and iron before stitching along the edge to keep it neat.
- Measure around your waist and add for the wrap, about 20cm should be enough.
- Whilst the fabric is wrapped around you, place the ties at the very end of the top wrap layer and where is meats the fabric below, place the other two on the opposite side to stop the under skirt from slipping when wearing. Sew these on with a square stitch and when wearing, double knot to finish.
Definitely show me when you’re finished! I’d love to see the different finishes and fabrics you guys put to this. It’s very easy and casual, it would look amazing as a long skirt as well as a mini too!

Absolutely love this Notion editorial featuring the grey leather trousers from my AW13! Super beautiful worn with a loose knit; I might have to copy this look very very soon. Fashion week is less than a week away, with NYFW already kicking off yesterday. The SS14 show is one week tomorrow, which explains the lack of posts on this blog. So many apologies but it’s going to be so worth it!
The new website is officially live! I’ve been threatening to do a huge giveaway for a while now, so here it is. I know it won’t disappoint! I’m so excited to have teamed up with hair giants, Bumble and bumble, to offer some pretty uhhmazing stuff. I always use their products for my shows and editorial shoots, so it made total sense to team up with them for my first giveaway for the new site, and with items I use on a daily basis.
There are two sets of prizes, first is the Charlie May ostrich leather tee with Bumble and bumble quenching shampoo and conditioner, thickening creme and surf spray (This is available worldwide!). And, the second is two tickets to see our catwalk show at London Fashion Week, 15th September! As well as Bumble and bumble Mending shampoo and conditioner, surf spray and texture creme (this is available to UK residents only who are in London for fashion week.) Unfortunately I cannot provide travel!
All you have to do is sign up to our newsletter and follow Girl a la Mode on BlogLovin’. Just leave a comment below to say which prizes you’re going for (you can vote for both!) Just some of the final campaign images that will be launching on the new site tomorrow. Sign up to the newsletter to be the first to hear about our new e-commerce site going live! The topic of the Birkenstock has many people divided. Perfectly straddling the line between high fashion and ugly; you either love them or you hate them. If you’re a devout Céline follower then you’ll no doubt have a pair already, if not the enviable real deal – I’ve been thinking about the pair in this particularly exceptional editorial for a while, but as soon as I saw these Vagabond sandals online, my thirst for ugly sandals sort of came to an end.
So, worn with a black Charlie May blazer, soon to be available online (!) and my new favourite jewellery discovery MIRLO - I haven’t taken this V necklace off since I got it. Wearing black as Autumn slowly starts to creep in, and it’s no longer that acceptable to cycle in between the spots in white outfits. Glad I’ve still got a bit of a tan happening at least!
