NOTION

Absolutely love this Notion editorial featuring the grey leather trousers from my AW13! Super beautiful worn with a loose knit; I might have to copy this look very very soon. Fashion week is less than a week away, with NYFW already kicking off yesterday. The SS14 show is one week tomorrow, which explains the lack of posts on this blog. So many apologies but it’s going to be so worth it!

Congratulations to Laurie and Charlotte  who are the winners of the Charlie May AW13 giveaway! I will definitely be doing more in the future, so make sure to keep a look out.

LFW HIGHLIGHTS

Looking back at LFW this season it wasn’t about the shows, the collections or getting street style snapped outside somerset house; but about catching up with friends, going out to party and eating A LOT of food!

The further I get into my design career the more I realise that some things have to be left behind and fashion week is going to be one of them, obviously I’m going to be involved in it myself, showing a collection takes so much out of you that I realised after this season that I didn’t have the energy to run to shows, take street style snaps or even have a good time. So I opted for my bed, only venturing out to try new restaurants or fun parties and most importantly seeing close friends for a catch up and a gossip.

Thank you to everyone who made this fashion week special to me.

LOUISE GRAY SS12

Again, another more grown up collection from Louise Gray but I LOVE IT. I think it’s a lot more wearable than previous seasons, she has still managed to keep all the excitement and just refined her ideas. With it being her third season sponsored by COTTON USA, she is really starting to pave her own way in the industry as a high end ethical brand. The whole show was so much fun, I loved the colours and the textures, even the embellishment. I’m very happy for Louise, it being her first major show. Girl’s gunna go far.

LFW DAY 3

Mulberry masks and Una Burke for Unconditional. Day three was more relaxed with a late start to the day and then rain in the afternoon, not too many good pictures to capture.

LFW DAY TWO

Some quick snaps of what’s been going on today. Now I need sleep!

MARIA GRACHVOGEL SS12

Held in the ballroom of the Savoy hotel, Maria Grachvogel presented her Spring/Summer 2012 show yesterday. The fabrics were so luxurious, every garment was meant to move. The catwalk was a large square so there was a constant pounding of models and fabric following behind them. I loved all the white looks and the snakeskin trouser suit was pretty amazing. The shoes were a collaboration with Atalanta Weller, so chic! It’s all about those snakeskin booties.

CORRIE NIELSEN SS12

Corrie Nielsen was my first show to kick start London Fashion Week into action yesterday. With a strong traditional Japanese influence the models walked slowly down the catwalk to heavy string music accompanied with bird song. The silhouettes were so magnificent; my favourite being the coats with bustles on the back, wraps around the waist and a low neckline. I wasn’t so sure about some of the fabric choices, I’ve never been a fan of silk taffeta but I wished the beautiful blouses were made out of something else, it did look incredibly rich though. Over all it was incredible, maybe I’ll try and pull off that hair style soon.

LFW MENSWEAR DAY

In order of appearance; Katie Eary’s legs, Alexxsia, Louise Gray, Charleston, Cassette Player show, Kit, Shini, and Jen.
The menswear day always seems so wound down compared to the previous mania, like the hangover after the night out; I much prefer Somerset House at this time.
Lusting most after the boys J.W. Anderson shoes, I believe the shoes in the last picture are his too, a toe dipped in crystal? Too amazing. I believe the guy in the last picture works for Womens Wear Daily Japan, if there was anybody’s wardrobe I would love to raid it would be his.

ZARA GORMAN S/S 11

Stunning designs by Zara Gorman on show at Victoria House, LFW S/S 11.

JEAN-PAUL GAULTIER FOR LA PERLA LFW PRESENTATION

My favourite presentation of all (from a purerly selfish point of view) had to be the Jean-Paul Gaultier for La Perla collection. It is always exciting when a collection exceeds your own hype and this was even more beautiful in person than any pictures portray. The collection is so sexy and so feminine, you just wanted to try it all on immediately!
I always find myself staring at the Gaultier perfume ads for the magnificent corsets, now Gaultier has successfully brought cone bra’s to the masses.
Apparently the designer approached La Perla 20 years ago to do a lingerie collection and the owner of the company refused, a few years ago the owner passed away and the company exchanged hands. Gaultier approached them again and they (obviously) lept at the chance.
My favourite piece has to be the triple strap nude bra with shoulder pads, pictured second. Imagine wearing it under a sheer top…

“Lingerie is part of my DNA and of my heritage,” Gaultier said. “In my latest prêt-à-porter collection I revisited the conical bras and corsets worn as outerwear. This collaboration was a natural and logical step, especially since La Perla is the pearl of the lingerie, with the best savoir faire.” Stylist

A limited edition back stitch satin bra with shoulder motif and garter belt are to be shown in Paris for Gaultier’s Haute Couture collection next July.
The collection you see here is set to hit stores in November.
