WAISTCOATAPHOBIA

Wearing: Haider Ackermann waistcoat, Acne tank, skirt made by me, Alexander Wang brogues, Miu Miu sunglasses, Helmut Lang cuff, Dominic Jones beetle ring

I’ve had this waistcoat in my wardrobe for well over a year, whilst I love the minimal design, I’ve been finding it tricky to wear and it’s only so far seen the light of day once. I think I feel this way about all waistcoats; they are quite dressy and almost feel like an unnecessary addition to an outfit. I finally triumphed yesterday, by wearing this piece with a simple sheer tank and plain skirt. Yay to not being a waistcoataphobe anymore!

Thanks Jen for the photos!

  2. Darling, it’s beautiful. I love a good waistcoat. Bravo. xo

  3. you sure did triumph!! it looks so good. Is it really asymmetrical or is that just the way it looks because of the way it sits? Either way, I’m loving it.

    1. Hi Karina :) it’s actually assymetric!

  4. Like this look. Really nice !!

  5. I really really agree with a waistcoat that can easily be a “waste-coat” since it does seem a little pointless at times, but good to see you working it to the charlie.may aesthetic! am still really looking forward to seeing what you guys have on for sale on saturday, I really hope next time I could join in haha. Oh, and feel free to check out my first ever giveaway.

  6. I own a bunch of waistcoats and seem to suffer from a bit of waistcoataphobia myself! You’ve inspired me to dust them off.

  7. I love this! i agree on the unnecessary addition thing but in this case its the perfect finishing piece to the outfit – anything long sleeved would have been too much in my humble opinion!

  11. Love that waistcoat, you look amazing! yey for non waistcoatphobia.

  12. I totally agree about resurrecting the waistcoat! I have so many in my wardrobe I almost never wear. Moving [:'(] helps you discover all these things you’d forgotten about…

  13. I do think that waistcoat is an unnecessary addition to an outfit too but it kind of works with your look.

  14. I shy away from waistcoats too but I like the asymmetric cut of this piece. Yes to black skirts working with everything.

  15. I think this is one of my favourite looks you’ve ever worn Charlie, its lovely! The waistcoat and brogues are lovely!
