24 HOURS IN PARIS

Shangri-La Paris

When Paris is just a 2 hour train ride away, it’s a wonder why I don’t head of to the capital more often. I guess when you’re there 2-3 times a year for work, visiting can always end up feeling less like a holiday, actually the opposite was true – I saw a really different side to Paris that I never get to see when it’s fashion week. First of all travelling business on the Eurostar was such a treat, you cannot imagine. If I only had the coin I would make sure to never travel economy again (!). Once arriving at Gare Du Nord I was whisked away, straight to our beautiful hotel, the Shangri-La. The old mansion, former home to the Bonaparte family, overlooks the 6th arrondissement including the Eiffel Tower, directly in its line of sight.

After unpacking with a fresh tea in the hotel we headed to lunch at the top of the Centre Pompidou. Georges restaurant was the perfect way to spend an hour or two; you feel like you’re inside a gallery, with incredible sculptures in silvers and pinks surrounding you, accented with tall stemmed roses on every table. The sun was shining through the glass and we happily pretended it was still the middle of summer, eating fish and drinking chilled white wine. After lunch we got the treat of a lifetime at THE blow dry hair salon, Salon Christophe Nicolas Biot before the event in the evening. I just asked for major volume, as I feel like I spend all my time with my head upside down, joojdging my hair to try and whip some volume in there. After the preening and pampering we were ready to shop. After all, we were in Paris to see the unveiling of Carine Roitfeld for Uniqlo.

The collaboration is exactly what you would expect from the most renowned fashion editor in all of Paris, the epitome of Parisienne chic; the collection boasts a full range of easy separates, leather/sheer shirting as well as wool melton coats and blazers in black tie style. Faux leather croc handbags and faux fur coats also accompany the collection. I didn’t know what to expect from the collection (which is now available to buy from Regent Street) but there are so many key wardrobe staples that I snapped up. First of all the outerwear is really stand out, I went for a black wool chester coat and accompanying silk slips in cami top and full cami dress style. It’s limited edition and will only be available in store, in Regent Street, London. We were lucky to attend the pre shopping press event in Paris where we were told the collection would not be replenished once it sells out. So, hurry and snap up fast!

Thank you to Uniqlo and the Exposure team for such a fun trip – re-affirming my love of Paris!
